RESIDENTIAL AIDE

Job Summary

The Residential Aide is responsible for the direct supervision and monitoring of the residents in the group residential care to include the following duties and responsibilities:

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
 

  • Supervise and monitor the residents at all times while in the ECS facility and at activities outside of the facility;

  • Transport residents to and from medical, therapy, family visitation appointments and recreational activities;

  • Assist and train new staff with the implementation of ECS policies and procedures;

  • Attend 40 hours of new employee orientation and pre-service training;

  • Attend 40 hours of in-service training on approved topics annually;

  • Document the residents’ day-to-day activities using the Daily Report Form;

  • Accurately document the resident’s intake of medication per the ECS Medication and Supervision Policy

  • Make hourly notations of resident and facility status in the Facility Log Book;

  • Complete a detailed Unusual Incident Report (UI) to document major incidents and behaviors not in compliance with District of Columbia law, ECS rules and regulations and regulations regarding child abuse and neglect;

  • Document minor incidents of misconduct, inappropriate behavior(s) and disciplinary actions utilizing the ECS In-House Incident Report form and the ECS Counseling form;

  • Assist in providing the residents with on-going Life Skills Education;

  • Monitor the ECS daily schedule and monthly activities calendar to ensure the residents participation in program activities and events;

  • Perform assigned cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness of the facility utilizing the Facility Check and Daily Cleaning Logs;

  • Report to work 15 minutes prior to the shift start to receive facility briefing from the out-going shift;

  • Must attend mandatory staff meetings;

  • Will be required to work some holidays and weekends;

  • Other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Recommended to have a High School Diploma or GED or at least 10 years of experience working in a Social Service Setting.

  • Must have at least 2 years of direct experience or 3 consecutive years of demonstrated work experience;

  • Demonstrates good oral, verbal and written communication skills;

  • Capable of working with the residents to implement program activities with very little supervision;

  • Capable of effectively de-escalating and managing conflicts and disruptions with residents, staff and community.


BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS:

  • Must have Child Protective Clearance(s)

  • Must have local, state and FBI criminal background checks

  • Must take a drug and alcohol screen

  • Must have a medical clearance including a TB test;

  • Must have current First Aid and CPR certifications;

  • Must have a good driving record, if a licensed driver.

  • Must have Sex Offenders Registry Check.


BENEFITS:

Must work a minimum of 30 hours weekly to be eligible for the following:

  • Health Insurance (eligible after 3 months of employment)
